file-kanji software package provides kanji code checker, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install file-kanji
file-kanji is installed in your system.
Make ensure the file-kanji package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep file-kanji *
You will get with file-kanji package name, version, architecture and description in a table
